History

The Center for Awakening was founded in Madison, Wisconsin in 1999 as a vehicle for providing educational programs with the intention of fostering the evolution of human and planetary consciousness.  Some years before this, in 1990, Hedwig Weiler, a founder of the Center for Awakening had initiated the Psychosynthesis Center of Wisconsin through which she and others provided psychosynthesis training, workshops and counseling. The Center for Awakening now also incorporates the vision and goals of what was formerly the Psychoysynthesis Center of Wisconsin.

In 2005, Carla Peterson joined Hedi Weiler as co-director. Several affiliates were added to the Center, in that year as well. The affiliates were all graduates of the Psychosynthesis Center of Wisconsin, lived in different parts of the state and country and were engaged in various areas of work. Through its affiliates the Center offered programs that ranged from one-day introductory workshops to courses taking place over weeks or months, to retreats and intensives.

The Center was engaged in experimenting with ways to organize.  The Center provided a potential umbrella for qualified affiliates for their work related to Psychosynthesis. That included teaching basic and advanced Psychosynthesis courses and seminars, or applying psychosynthesis principles in areas of social activism, body work, research, education, the arts, or psychotherapy.

The Psychosynthesis Center of Wisconsin is now merged into the Center for Awakening to serve the vision and the mission described on this site.
